American Lake Sailing Club

The American Lake Sailing Club invites you to join us for fun sailing and casual racing on American Lake just south of Tacoma, WA. Our club always has room for new members. The ALSC has all types of members, young and somewhat older, novice and experts, men and women. If you feel you could use some assistance one of our club members would be happy to help you to become an active sailor, in your boat or ours. If you have questions regarding the rigging of your boat we will be glad to assist you.

View from the Captain Cook

Some old timers may recall the 'good ole' days' when the club was still allowed to host the annual Canon Cup Regatta. Some might still have the miniature canons given as trophies.

Sailing events are held on the last saturday of every month except December. Our casual races utilize the Portsmouth Handicap system to equalize the speed differences between the boats. We have a variety of boats racing regularly ranging from thirteen foot Lasers up to a Catalina 22. Ranger 20's are also popular on American Lake. We meet around 11 a.m. on a dock that houses a small building named the 'Captain Cook' on Silcox Island. Looking towards the center of the lake we are directly across from Bill's Boathouse. Don't forget to check the American Lake weather forecast.

Big Boats on American Lake

Summer time sailing events are often accompanied by a Potluck Picnic on the 'Captain Cook' float. Bring a side dish to share and something to throw on the club provided Barbeque for an after race social.

Club members receive a monthly newsletter. Race results, upcoming events, sailboat gossip, and a little more are delivered on a monthly basis. View a back issue.

Monthly meetings are held at Bill's Boathouse on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. December's meeting turns into our yearly awards ceremony and holiday party.

We invite you to come out and sail with us. For more information please call Frank at 253-843-1882.
